Many children dream (or at least, had once dreamt) of becoming a real-life ninja. This wish too, had somehow penetrated my mind before when I was still very much awed about these warriors we commonly see in Japanese animations and cartoons. Who wouldn't want to be an assassin with an extra cool sword and excellent skills in combat anyway?

Ninjas remain close to our hearts as we grow older. Many of us still collect magazines, clothes, and other paraphernalia which remind us of their ardor and nobility. We also go to cosplays, portraying our favorite ninja characters in animes and mangas like for example, Naruto, Flame of Recca, and Rurouni Kenshin.

Whenever we attend cosplays, we always do our best to make our ninja appearance (or any other comic character) as realistic as possible. We pay tailors, no matter how expensive their services usually are, to perfectly copy ninja garbs (which usually consist of black suits, camouflage based upon dark colors such as dark red and dark blue, and cloaks). We also copy their weapons, which usually consist of smoke bombs and firecrackers, shobo (a special ring that aids in hand-to-hand combat), shuriken (a thrown weapon which is similar to caltrop), and specialized katana or sword.

To get these weapons for our cosplay look, either we improvise or buy imitations in specialty shops. Of course, since most of us want to look incredibly like our chosen ninja character, we spend.
